Bangladesh Rohingya

The Rohingya Crisis and the Ongoing Work of Moonlight Humanity

In 2017, the world witnessed one of the largest humanitarian crises in recent history. Following the military crackdown in Myanmar, more than 700,000 Rohingya people fled their homes and crossed the border into Bangladesh seeking safety. Families arrived with nothing—many had lost loved ones, homes, and entire communities.

Today, most Rohingya refugees live in camps in the Cox’s Bazar region of Bangladesh. While global attention was strong in the early years, many of these communities continue to face serious challenges including lack of education, limited access to clean water, and thousands of children growing up without parents.

Moonlight Humanity has remained committed to supporting these communities even after the global spotlight faded.

Since the crisis began, Moonlight Humanity has worked closely with Rohingya families and local partners to provide essential support. Our efforts focus on restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity for children and vulnerable families.

Through these programs, Moonlight Humanity has:

• Built dozens of schools to provide basic education for Rohingya children
• Constructed masjids and community prayer spaces
• Established libraries and learning centers for students
• Provided clean water systems to improve sanitation and health
• Supported thousands of orphaned children with basic education and care

Education remains at the heart of our mission. For many Rohingya children, access to a classroom is the first step toward rebuilding their future.

While much of the world has moved on from the headlines of 2017, the needs of Rohingya refugees remain urgent. Moonlight Humanity continues to stand with these communities—working quietly but consistently to ensure that children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and live with dignity.

Our commitment does not end when the noise fades. We remain dedicated to serving the Rohingya people and helping build a future rooted in compassion, education, and hope.
